Warm-up 🔁

First, we remember. Each lesson starts here, reviewing the words that are ready to come back — a little today, a little in a few days, so they stick for good.

Mia arrives 📖

Read it slowly. Say the words out loud.

Mia arrives in a new city with a big suitcase. Morning. She looks happy.

Today is a big day. Mia is in a new city. She has a big suitcase.

She is happy. She is a little nervous, too.

A friendly neighbour, Tom, waves hello to Mia in the street.

A man waves. "Hello!" he says.

"Hi!" says Mia.

"My name is Tom," says the man. "Nice to meet you. What's your name?"

"My name is Mia. I'm from Italy," says Mia.

"Nice to meet you, Mia. Welcome!" says Tom.

Mia smiles. Her new life starts today. 🌤️

Notice: Mia and Tom say the same things you will say — Hello · My name is… · I'm from… · Nice to meet you. Learn them in the next tab.

Your new words 🗂️

Tap a card to see its meaning. These eight go into your review deck — you'll meet them again in the next lessons, exactly when you're about to forget them.

The pattern: I am / you are 🧩

One tiny piece of grammar powers this whole lesson: the verb to be.

I am Mia. → I'm Mia.
I am from Italy. → I'm from Italy.
You are Tom. → You're Tom.

To ask, we turn it around:

What is your name? → What's your name?
Where are you from?
That's all you need today. When you're ready for more practice with this, these two lessons go deeper — but the story above is the heart.

Now you 🗣️

Mia introduced herself. Now you do it. Fill the gaps, then say it out loud three times.

Hello! My name is .

I'm from . Nice to meet you!

Before you go

See you tomorrow. Your eight words are waiting in the Warm-up. Come back and they'll be ready to review — that's how they become yours forever.

Act it out 🎭

Now YOU are in the story!

🎬 The scene: You are new in the city. You have a big suitcase. A friendly man waves in the street.

Round 1 — you are Mia

Your teacher is Tom. Speak your lines — don't write them.

Tom: "Hello! I'm Tom."

You: (say hello and your name)

Tom: "Nice to meet you!"

You: (say it back to him)

Tom: "Where are you from?"

You: (say your country)

Tom: "Welcome! Goodbye, Mia!"

You: (say goodbye)

Round 2 — swap!

Now YOU are Tom, and your teacher is Mia. But this time YOU say hello first, and YOU ask the questions.
