Warm-up 🔁

Before the new story, let's bring back your words from Lessons 1 and 2. The ones ready to review are waiting here — a little today, a little in a few days.

A home of her own 📖

Read it slowly. Say the words out loud.

Mia opens the door of a small empty flat, light pouring in, thrilled; Tom carries a box.

Big news! Mia has got a little flat now. It is above the bookshop. 🏠

It is small, but it is hers. Tom helps her. He carries a big box.

"It has got two rooms and a tiny kitchen," says Mia. "I love it!"

At first the flat is empty. It has not got a sofa. It has not got plants.

The flat is now cosy: plants, a teal rug, fairy lights; Mia hangs a picture.

But Mia works hard. She buys a teal rug and some green plants. 🌿

She hangs a picture on the wall. Now the flat is warm and cosy.

"Have you got everything?" asks Tom. "Yes! Now it is home," says Mia. 🌱

Notice: we use have got to say what we have. I have got a flat. It has got two rooms.

Have you got a garden? — No, I haven't.

Act it out 🎭

Now YOU have got a new flat — show it to your friend!

🎬 The scene: Tom is at the door with a big box. It is his first visit to the new flat.

Round 1 — you are Mia

Your teacher is Tom. Speak your lines — don't write them.

Tom: "Hello! I have got your big box here. So — this is it?"

You: (welcome him in and tell him your big news about your home)

Tom: "Wow! How many rooms are there?"

You: (say how many rooms it has got, and what the kitchen is like)

Tom: "It looks a little sad with nothing in it. What do you want to buy?"

You: (agree it is empty, then name two things you want for the floor and the wall)

Round 2 — swap!

Now YOU are Tom, and your teacher is Mia. But this time it is one month later — the flat is full of new things, so ask her what it has got now.
