Warm-up 🔁

Before the new story, let's bring back your words from Lessons 1 and 2. The ones ready to review are waiting here — a little today, a little in a few days.

How much? How many? 📖

Read it slowly. Say the words out loud.

Mia and Tom push a very full supermarket trolley; Tom balances a huge watermelon on top.

Tom helps Mia do the big shop for the flat. They go to the supermarket. 🛒

The trolley gets very full! Bread, rice, fruit, and a huge watermelon.

"How many eggs do we need?" asks Tom. "Ten, please," says Mia.

"And how much rice?" "One big bag," she says.

Mia's kitchen counter covered with shopping bags and colourful groceries; the ginger cat inspects a bag.

At the till, Mia pays. It is a lot of money, but now the flat is full of food! 💰

Back home, the ginger cat looks in every bag. 🐈

"Thank you, Tom," says Mia. "Now I can cook!" 🍚

Notice: how much for things we can't count (rice, milk); how many for things we can count (eggs, apples).

Act it out 🎭

Now YOU are at the supermarket, pushing the big trolley!

🎬 The scene: The big shop for the flat. Mia has the list; you push the trolley and ask about everything.

Round 1 — you are Tom

Your teacher is Mia. Speak your lines — don't write them.

Mia: "Here's the trolley! First on the list: eggs."

You: (eggs are things you can count — ask her the right question about them)

Mia: "Ten, please. Next: rice."

You: (rice is a thing you can't count — ask her the right question about it)

Mia: "One big bag. That's everything — let's go to the till."

You: (ask one more question about a food on the list, then say what YOU can do at the till)

Round 2 — swap!

Now YOU are Mia, and your teacher is Tom. But this time you shop for a party — Tom asks about apples, milk and juice, and you have the answers.
