Warm-up 🔁

Before the new story, let's bring back your words from Lessons 1 and 2. The ones ready to review are waiting here — a little today, a little in a few days.

The proudest day 📖

Read it slowly. Say the words out loud.

Rosa proudly polishes a little wooden coffee-cup trophy on the counter; Mia and Tom cheer.

Today is a big day at the café! The town newspaper is here. 📰

It says Rosa's café has the best coffee in town! Rosa is so happy. ☕

"We are the best!" she says. "And we have the oldest coffee machine, too!"

Mia and Tom cheer. Rosa gets a little prize — a small wooden cup.

A cheerful queue of townspeople stretches out of the café door; Rosa and Mia grin behind the counter.

All day, people come. The queue is very long! It goes out of the door.

It is the busiest day of the year. But Rosa smiles all the time. 😊

"This is the happiest day," she says. "Thank you, everyone!" 🏆

Notice: to say the most, we add the …-est: old → the oldest. And good → the best.

The pattern: superlatives (the …-est) 🧩

Look at the pattern, then use it.

old → the oldest  ·  busy → the busiest  ·  happy → the happiest
good → the best  ·  bad → the worst
It is the best coffee in town.
The most of all? add the …-est. Everest is the highest mountain.

Act it out 🎭

Now YOU are the star of the café's proudest day!

🎬 The scene: The café has won the prize for the best coffee in town. A writer from the newspaper wants to talk to Rosa.

Round 1 — you are Rosa

Your teacher is the newspaper writer. Speak your lines — don't write them.

Writer: "Good morning! Your café is in the newspaper today. How do you feel?"

You: (say how you feel, and tell her the big news about your coffee)

Writer: "Wonderful! And is your café special in other ways?"

You: (tell her about your coffee machine — no machine in town is as old)

Writer: "Look at that queue — it goes out of the door!"

You: (say what kind of day this is for the café — and for you)

Round 2 — swap!

Now YOU are the newspaper writer, and your teacher is Rosa. But this time the prize is for the best cake in town, not the coffee.
