Warm-up 🔁

Before the new story, let's bring back your words from Lessons 1 and 2. The ones ready to review are waiting here — a little today, a little in a few days.

Dancing in the square 📖

Read it slowly. Say the words out loud.

The town square in festival mode: bunting, food stalls, a small brass band, families everywhere; Mia in the middle, delighted.

Once a year, the town has a big festival. It is in summer, on a Saturday. 🎪

The square is full of colour. There is bunting and there are food stalls.

A brass band plays. The music starts at six o'clock in the evening. 🎺

Mia loves it. She eats sweet cakes and dances in the square.

Mia dancing in the square with Tom and Rosa, lanterns glowing against an evening sky.

Tom and Rosa dance too! The lanterns glow in the dark sky. 🏮

"I never dance," laughs Tom. "But tonight, I do!"

Late at night, the festival ends. "What a day!" says Mia. ✨

Notice: for time we use in (months, years, morning), on (days, dates), at (a clock time).

Act it out 🎭

Now YOU are in the story. The festival is coming!

🎬 The scene: The café, a few days before the festival. Tom knows nothing about it — you know everything.

Round 1 — you are Mia

Your teacher is Tom. Speak your lines — don't write them.

Tom: "Mia, everyone is talking about the festival. When is it?"

You: (say the season and the day — use your little time words)

Tom: "Where is it? And what time does the music start?"

You: (say the place, who plays the music, and the clock time it starts)

Tom: "Hmm. You know I never dance…"

You: (invite him anyway — say what you two can do there in the evening)

Round 2 — swap!

Now YOU are Tom, and your teacher is Mia. But this time it is the winter market — on a Sunday, in December, with music at eight o'clock — and Mia asks YOU about it.
