Warm-up 🔁

Before the new story, let's bring back your words from Lessons 1 and 2. The ones ready to review are waiting here — a little today, a little in a few days.

Rain or shine 📖

Read it slowly. Say the words out loud.

Mia, Tom and Rosa around a table planning a street party: paper plans, bunting samples, thumbs up all round.

The town is planning a big street party! Mia, Tom and Rosa make a plan. 🎉

But the weather is not sure. Half sun, half cloud. What will they do?

"If it rains, we 'll move inside," says Rosa. "The café is big enough."

"And if it 's sunny, we 'll dance in the street!" says Mia. 💃

Mia at the café door looking up at a half-sunny, half-cloudy sky, an armful of bunting ready.

"If people come, we 'll need lots of cake," laughs Tom.

They put up bunting and hope for sun. Mia looks at the sky. ☀️🌥️

"Rain or sun, it 'll be a good party!" she says. 🎈

Notice: to plan with a condition: if + present, then will. If it rains, we'll go inside.

The pattern: if + will (first conditional) 🧩

Look at the pattern, then use it.

If it rains, we 'll go inside.
If it 's sunny, we 'll dance outside.
If you come, I 'll be happy.
Condition → result: If + now, will + future. ☔→🏠.

Act it out 🎭

Now YOU are at the planning table — the street party needs a plan!

🎬 The scene: The café table, covered in plans and bunting. The party is on Saturday, but the sky is half sun, half cloud.

Round 1 — you are Mia

Your teacher is Rosa. Speak your lines — don't write them.

Rosa: "The party is on Saturday! But look at the sky. What will we do if it rains?"

You: (tell her the plan — where the party will go if the rain comes)

Rosa: "Good idea, the café is big enough. And if the sun comes out?"

You: (say what everyone will do in the street if the weather is good)

Rosa: "Lovely! One more thing — maybe the whole town will come."

You: (say what you will need if lots of people come)

Round 2 — swap!

Now YOU are Rosa, and your teacher is Mia. But this time you plan the music and the chairs, not the food.
