Quiz night at the café: teams at tables, Tom as quizmaster holding little cards, warm lamplight.

Thursday is quiz night! The café is full. Tom is the quizmaster. 🎤

Mia's team is Rosa, Mia and a friendly neighbour. They want to win!

"Question one," says Tom. "He was a king who lost his head. Who was he?" 👑

"Question two: it is a fruit which is long and yellow." "A banana!" shouts Rosa. 🍌

Mia's team celebrating with a tiny trophy; Rosa arrives with a celebratory tray of hot chocolates.

"Question three: she is a woman who flew across the sea."

Mia's team thinks hard. They know many answers! ✍️

At the end, Tom counts. "The winners are... Mia's team!" 🏆 They cheer!

Notice: we use who for people and which for things, to give more information. a king who… · a fruit which…

Act it out 🎭

Now YOU hold the little cards — tonight, YOU are the quizmaster!

🎬 The scene: Quiz night at the café. The tables are full, and Mia's team wants to win the prize.

Round 1 — you are Tom, the quizmaster

Your teacher is Mia's team. Speak your lines — don't write them.

Mia's team: "We're ready! Question one, please!"

You: (describe a famous person — start with "a man…" or "a woman…" — and let them guess)

Mia's team: "Ooh, we know the answer! Next question!"

You: (now describe a food or a drink — it's a thing, not a person)

Mia's team: "Too easy! One more — for the prize!"

You: (describe an animal or a machine — make this one hard!)

Round 2 — swap!

Now YOU are on Mia's team, and your teacher is the quizmaster. But this time the questions are about Mia's story, and every answer must be a full sentence.
