🎯 The Formulas
should/shouldn't + have + past participle could + have + past participle would + have + past participle
1. SHOULD HAVE / SHOULDN'T HAVE
Use: Regret or criticism - the right thing to do was different from what happened
Positive (regret): "I should have saved more money." Meaning: I didn't save, and now I regret it.
Negative (regret): "I shouldn't have eaten so much cake." Meaning: I ate too much, and now I regret it.
Advice/Criticism: "You should have told me earlier!" Meaning: You didn't tell me, and that was wrong/bad.
2. COULD HAVE
Use: Alternative possibilities - something was possible but didn't happen
Alternative action: "You could have asked for help." Meaning: This was an option, but you didn't do it.
Missed opportunity: "We could have won the game!" Meaning: It was possible to win, but we didn't.
Softer criticism: "You could have been more careful." Meaning: A gentler way to criticize than "should have"
3. WOULD HAVE
Use: Hypothetical past - what you would have done in a different situation
Hypothetical action: "I would have helped if I'd known." Meaning: In that situation (if I'd known), this is what I would have done.
Different outcome: "She would have passed if she'd studied." Meaning: If the situation had been different, the result would have been different.

🎯 Instructions
Share your experiences and reflections with your teacher. Be honest and learn from the past!
1. My Biggest Regret
Reflect on a major regret in your life:
What happened? What did you do or not do?
What should you have done differently?
What could you have done instead?
What did you learn from this experience?
Example: "My biggest regret is that I didn't travel more when I was younger. I should have taken more risks. I could have used my savings to see the world instead of buying a car. Now I understand that experiences are more valuable than possessions."
2. Advice to My Younger Self
If you could go back in time, what would you tell yourself?
What should you have known earlier in life?
What shouldn't you have worried about?
What opportunities should you have taken?
What relationships should you have invested more in?
3. A Mistake That Taught Me Something
Tell about a mistake that became a valuable lesson:
What mistake did you make?
What should you have done differently?
What did you learn from it?
Would you have learned the lesson without making the mistake?
Example: "I once sent an angry email to my boss. I should have waited 24 hours before sending it. I could have had a face-to-face conversation instead. I learned that it's better to communicate important things in person, especially when emotions are involved."
4. Looking Back at Career/Education Choices
Discuss your education and career path:
What subject should you have studied?
What job opportunities should you have taken?
What skills could you have developed earlier?
Would you have chosen a different career path?
5. Relationships and Friendships
Reflect on relationships in your life:
Is there someone you should have stayed in touch with?
What should you have said to someone but never did?
What shouldn't you have said in an argument?
How could you have been a better friend/partner/family member?
6. Things I Don't Regret
Positive reflection - what are you glad you did?
What risks are you glad you took?
What would you definitely do again?
What choices are you proud of?
What lessons are you grateful for?
