💬 Extended Discussion Challenge - 10+ Minutes

True B2 fluency means speaking for extended periods without running out of things to say. Choose a topic and speak for at least 10 minutes with minimal teacher intervention.

💡 Extended Discussion Strategy

To keep talking for 10+ minutes, use these techniques:

  • Tell stories: Give specific personal examples
  • Compare and contrast: "On one hand... but on the other hand..."
  • Explore different angles: Personal, social, economic, ethical perspectives
  • Use hypotheticals: "If... then...", "Imagine if..."
  • Make predictions: "In the future, I think..."
  • Reference others: "Some people think... but I believe..."
  • Elaborate: Don't just state opinions, explain WHY with evidence and reasoning

📋 Choose Your Extended Discussion Topic:

1. The Impact of Social Media on Society

Discuss the positive and negative impacts, personal experiences, future predictions, how it's changed human behavior, should it be regulated, etc.

2. The Purpose and Future of Education

What should education achieve? How should it change? Your own educational journey, what worked/didn't work, future of learning, etc.

3. Work-Life Balance in Modern Society

Is it possible? Your career goals, what matters most, hustle culture, changing attitudes toward work, what success means, etc.

4. Cultural Identity in a Globalized World

What shapes your identity? Preserving traditions vs. embracing change, cultural appropriation, living between cultures, future of diversity, etc.

5. Technology's Role in Our Lives

Benefits and dangers, personal dependency, AI and the future, how it's changed relationships, work, entertainment, whether progress is always good, etc.

6. What Makes a Good Life?

Open-ended philosophical discussion: happiness vs. meaning, material vs. experiential, personal goals, what you want to achieve, what really matters, etc.

✅ While Speaking, Try to Include:

✓ At least 3 personal examples or stories
✓ Multiple perspectives on the issue
✓ Some B2 grammar structures naturally
✓ Speculation about the future
✓ Acknowledgment of complexity (not simple answers)
✓ Connection to broader societal issues
