Saying what you'd choose and why
💭 OpinionYou have 3 seconds. Which would you choose?
Many learners say: "I like beach." or "Beach is better."
Native speakers say things like:
"I'd rather go to the beach."
"I'd prefer a beach holiday."
"I'd go for the beach, personally."
"Given the choice, I'd pick the mountains."
Today's Goal: Learn 5 natural ways to express preferences, so you sound more fluent when discussing choices and hypothetical situations.
Click each card to see the full pattern and examples:
✓ "I'd rather have coffee." (correct)
✗ "I'd rather to have coffee." (wrong!)
✓ "I'd rather not go out." (negative)
For comparing: "I'd rather watch Netflix than go to the cinema."
✓ "I'd prefer tea." (+ noun)
✓ "I'd prefer to stay home." (+ to + verb)
