New place, new people, new coffee machine. It is your first day at a new job — time to say hello, be friendly, and ask for help.
It is Monday morning. Today is your first day at a new job. You are a little nervous, but you are also happy. You came early, because you did not want to be late.
Nobody expects you to know everything today. That is normal — you are new! But you want to be friendly and easy to work with. So you will say hello, tell people your name, and ask for help when you need it.
A colleague comes to meet you. Their name is Priya. She is kind, and she works here for a long time. She will show you your desk and help you start. You just need to be friendly and polite.

About 2,200 years ago, the first emperor of China was afraid of dying. So he made a big army from clay — about 8,000 soldiers — to go with him. Each soldier had a different face.
These clay soldiers were new too. They stood in long lines, ready for their first day — but then they waited under the ground for 2,000 years. People found them in 1974, near the city of Xi'an.
Your first day is much easier! No clay army, no waiting 2,000 years — just a new desk, a new computer, and a coffee to find. And best of all, you have a kind person to help you.
