Year 9: Evaluating & Preparing for GCSE

"What do I think, and can I defend it?"

What Year 9 Is About

Year 9 is where everything comes together. You've encountered the world's major religions in Year 7 and compared traditions in Year 8. Now you'll tackle the biggest questions in philosophy, ethics, and theology — and learn to build structured arguments that defend your own position. This year develops the evaluation skills you'll need for GCSE, while exploring fascinating topics from the existence of God to the meaning of life. By the end of Year 9, you'll be ready to begin your GCSE Religious Studies course with confidence.
